The first time I heard this theme and variations by Mozart I was instantly charmed by the creative, yet accessible, way he transformed the familiar melody throughout the piece. My duet arrangement uses most of the variations in mixed order from the original, and in the original key. A marimba with low F will be necessary for the low part. Four mallet technique is also used throughout to play chords in both parts. Dropping a note from the chords can make this accessible for players not comfortable using four mallets. This is a fun way for your players to experience theme and variations with a well-known melody.
